Deviated Septum Repair (Septoplasty)

Septoplasty for Deviated Septum Repair & Relief

Are you in need of deviated septum repair, and wondering how to repair the deviated septum? Relief may be closer and easier than you think, thanks to septoplasty.

What Causes a Deviated Septum?

The nasal septum, made of thin bone and cartilage, is the wall between the nostrils that separates the two nasal passages. If the cartilage or bone is not straight, the septum is considered deviated and in need of a procedure called Septoplasty.

A deviated septum needing repair can lead to bothersome symptoms and conditions including:

  • Prolonged sinus infections
  • Sleep apnea
  • Nose bleeds
  • Persistent sneezing
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Loss of the sense of smell
  • Nasal pain
  • Obstruction of the nasal passages

If you are experiencing these symptoms and need relief from a deviated septum, breathe easy.  Deviated septum repair can be made by Dr. Michael Kaplan with a surgical procedure called Septoplasty. Subject to severity, a Septoplasty for a deviated septum may consist of reforming and repositioning the cartilage to support the nose and direct airflow. In some cases, a simple realignment of the septum is all it takes to correct the deviation and experience relief.

The septum repair usually only takes about an hour to perform. Better still, deviated septum recovery time is typically a few short weeks. This common corrective procedure can be performed in our Houston office. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Kaplan today!
